Report on Stakeholders’ Engagement: Review of Delta State Electricity Law 2024

Location: DSHA Asaba

Objective: To contribute to the review of the Delta State Electricity Law 2024 and advocate for DACCIMA’s interests.

Attendance:

Representatives of Nigerian Society of Engineers
Delta State Ministry of Energy
Nigerian Bar Association (various state chapters)
Other stakeholders
DACCIMA: Hon Secretary and Director General (representing Chief Anthony Idigbe, President)

DACCIMA’s Contribution:

– Submitted 25 copies of our memorandum outlining key objectives:
 Foster public-private partnerships
 Incentivize private sector investments
 Strengthen consumer protection
 Participate as members of the yet-to-be-constituted board of the Delta State Electricity Regulatory Commission (DSERC)

Outcomes:

 Engaging discussions with stakeholders and government representatives
 Chairman of the Committee requested further consultations
 DACCIMA’s contributions were well-received, and our objectives aligned with the overall goal of improving the electricity sector in Delta State

The Clerk handed a copy of the bill to be reviewed to the DG.

Next Steps:

– Pursue the matter further to ensure DACCIMA’s objectives are incorporated into the reviewed law
– Continue to engage with stakeholders and government representatives to advocate for our interests
– Secure private partnerships for lobbying the interests of DACCIMA prior to when the bill is passed

This report highlights DACCIMA’s participation in the stakeholders’ engagement and our commitment to shaping the Delta State Electricity Law 2024 to benefit our members and the private sector.
